Res 413 Has Been Sent To The U.S House Foreign Affairs Committee
On May 18, H. Res 413 was sent to the U.S. House Foreign Affairs Committee. It was sponsored by Rep. Deborah Ross and co-sponsored by Reps. Kathy Manning, Brad Sherman, David Cicilline, Nicole Malliotakis, Danny Davis, and Bill Johnson. It is entitled “Recognising 12 years since the end of the war in Sri Lanka on May 18, 2009, honoring the lives lost, and expressing support for justice, accountability, reconciliation, reconstruction, reparation, and reform in Sri Lanka to ensure a lasting peaceful political solution and a prosperous future for all people of Sri Lanka.”
The U.S. ‘s Resolution introduction comes just two months after the United Nations Human Rights Council passed theirs.
The Resolution follows a letter of concern headed by Rep. Ross in March that was sent to Secretary of State Antony Blinken.
