Justice For All’s Save Uyghur Campaign condemns the Thai government for its participation in a propaganda tour aimed at whitewashing the realities faced by Uyghurs repatriated to China. This orchestrated effort, under the guidance of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), seeks to mask genuine human rights concerns with scripted narratives and misrepresented facts.

The recent visit to East Turkistan by Thailand’s Deputy Prime Minister Phumtham Wechayachai and Minister of Justice Thawee Sodsong, accompanied by a group of journalists, was presented as a reassurance of the wellbeing of repatriated Uyghurs. However, Justice For All insists that such exhibitions are nothing more than a facade designed to obscure the real and ongoing persecution faced by Uyghurs by the Chinese regime.

“The Thai government has chosen to amplify the CCP’s propaganda instead of standing on the side of truth and human rights,” said Imam Abdul Malik Mujahid, President of Justice For All. “Sending Thai officials and journalists on a curated tour to present a false reality of Uyghur safety is an insult to the countless Uyghurs who have disappeared, been imprisoned, or tortured after being forcibly returned. This is not just dishonorable; it is deeply dangerous.”

The Thai delegation’s visit was marked by carefully staged interviews, scripted testimonies, and misleading reassurances that repatriated Uyghurs face no harm upon return. Staged interactions highlighted during the tour cannot serve as credible assurances of the repatriated Uyghur’ safety or freedom. Testimonies gathered under state-controlled settings and disseminated through government-approved media are unreliable and part of a broader narrative manipulation.

“This tour is an affront to those who genuinely seek accountability and justice for the Uyghurs,” said Arslan Hidayat, Team Lead of the Save Uyghur Campaign. “By engaging in this charade, Thailand undermines the global efforts to hold the CCP to account for its genocide. The Thai government is now complicit in covering up the systematic persecution of Uyghurs.”

Justice For All and the Save Uyghur Campaign demand that Thailand cease its involvement in China’s propaganda efforts and instead adhere to international human rights standards. The international community must see this for what it is—a shameful attempt to provide political cover for crimes against humanity and genocide.
