Justice For All Applauds the International Criminal Court in its issuance of Arrest Warrants Against Netanyahu and Gallant as a Crucial Step Towards Justice, Urges Arms Embargo
Justice For All’s Committee on ICC Submissions is deeply heartened by the arrest warrants against Benjamin Netenyahu and Yoav Gallant, issued by the International Criminal Court. The warrants are a crucial step in holding perpetrators of war crimes and crimes against humanity accountable, as part of the ongoing genocide in Gaza.
Over the past year, Justice For All has filed 31 submissions with the ICC, meticulously documenting war crimes and crimes against humanity perpetrated against Palestinians. Our toolkit, designed to assist families in filing their own submissions, was downloaded over 12,000 times. From the deliberate targeting of civilians and children to the destruction of medical facilities and infrastructure, these actions violate International human rights and humanitarian law. Our researchers have also investigated numerous other cases that expose systemic human rights violations committed by the Israeli government and military.
This announcement by the ICC echoes the precedent set during the Bosnian Genocide, where the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) played a pivotal role in bringing war criminals to justice. However, it is worth remembering that international justice mechanisms must be supported by the political will of states. In Bosnia, the tribunal succeeded only because the international community acted decisively, including enforcing arms embargoes and ensuring compliance with arrest warrants.
“We urge all states, party to the Rome Statute, to uphold their obligations, assist the ICC, and ensure that justice prevails,” stated Imam Abdul Malik Mujahid, President of Justice For All. “This is not only about accountability; it is about preserving the international rule of law and world order.”
Justice For All emphasizes that while this is a meaningful step forward, it is not enough. This alone will not halt the violence and genocide in Gaza. We call for an immediate arms embargo against Israel to prevent further atrocities. The international community of nations must act decisively to stop the funding, arming, and enabling of an apartheid regime responsible for crimes that have shocked the conscience of humanity.
