Justice For All: Urging Effective Action from the United Nations to Address Israeli-Palestinian Conflict

We, at Justice For All, would like to express our utmost appreciation to Mary Robinson, former President of Ireland and UN High Commissioner of Human Rights, and Ban Ki-moon, former UN Secretary-General, for their resolute call to the international community to pressure Israel in addressing the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Their unwavering commitment to human rights and justice serves as an inspiration to advocates worldwide.

The findings were presented by “The Elders,” a group founded by Nelson Mandela. during their recent visit to Israel/Palestine further underlines the urgent need for action. We stand in solidarity with the assertion that there is now effectively “one state” between the Jordan River and the Mediterranean Sea, eroding the possibility of a viable two-state solution. The evidence of apartheid practices against Palestinians, coupled with an intent to pursue permanent annexation based on “Jewish supremacy,” underscores the gravity of the situation.

Justice For All comments The Elders for highlighting the double standard in addressing violations of international law. The swift response to allegations against President Putin by the International Criminal Court (ICC) stands in stark contrast to the slow progress in the ICC’s investigation into potential Israeli crimes in the occupied Palestinian territory. We echo their concern that such discrepancies erode the pursuit of justice and undermine the credibility of the international community.

The rising violence in Palestine demands urgent attention and concerted efforts to address the root causes of the conflict. We fully support The Elders‘ call for countries to consider “serious enforceable measures” to increase pressure on the Israeli government to meet its international obligations. While we appreciate the actions taken by individual leaders and organizations, we emphasize the need for a comprehensive and effective action strategy from the United Nations.
