Justice For All condemns the lynching of Sri Lankan worker Priyantha Kumara, in Pakistan
Dec. 3, 2021
Justice For All strongly condemns the lynching of Priyantha Kumara, a Sri Lankan factory worker in Sialkot Pakistan. Workers far away from home should be made to feel welcome by the host community, and never feel that they may be in danger from the local population. Sialkot’s residents failed Mr. Kumara. Pakistan’s blasphemy laws have emboldened vigilante justce squads often in attacks against religious minorities.
We appreciate that the Prime Minister Imran Khan has made a commitment to bring the perpetrators to justice. We hope that the justice apparatus in Pakistan will act swiftly to arrest those responsible, try them under the full extent of the law, and send a clear message to vigilante justice squads and will prevent such attacks in future.
Our team wishes to express its condolences to the family of Mr. Kumara. Establishing Qist, a requirement for Muslims, includes fairness, justice & equity for all sections of society, including for non-Muslims.
