Justice For All Congratulates Dr. Naledi Pandor on Appointment as Chairperson of the Nelson Mandela Foundation
Justice For All is honored to extend our heartfelt congratulations to Dr. Naledi Pandor on her appointment as the new Chairperson of the Nelson Mandela Foundation, succeeding Professor Njabulo Ndebele. Dr. Pandor’s leadership, dedication, and deep commitment to social justice make her an exemplary choice to carry forward the legacy of Madiba at such a critical time in global history.
On September 14, 2024, Justice For All had the privilege of honoring Dr. Pandor with the Justice For All Award during our annual benefit in Chicago. In a moving display of unity, the leadership of core Muslim organizations and dignitaries from across Chicago joined the award presentation on stage, standing together in solidarity as Imam Abdul Malik Mujahid and Dr. Abdulghani Hamade, Chair of the Council of Islamic Organizations of Greater Chicago, presented Dr. Pandor with the award.
Accepting the honor, Dr. Pandor graciously stated that the award “belongs to the courageous people of Palestine who live daily under the deadly oppression of the State of Israel and the seven-decade failure of world leaders.” She compared the Palestinian struggle to the fight against apartheid in South Africa, remarking, “All the lived experiences of Palestinians reflect the reality of apartheid,” and called for global action to end Israeli occupation and systemic oppression. “It is our belief as South Africans that a genocide is taking place,” she added, reaffirming that South Africa’s government stands shoulder to shoulder with the Palestinian people. Quoting the late Nelson Mandela, she emphasized, “South Africa will not be completely free until Palestine is free.”
In her powerful acceptance speech, she reminded us all that “A struggle is not a careless thing that happens in the street. It has to be crafted. It has to be thought through. It has to be prepared for.” These words echo Dr. Pandor’s lifelong work, including her tireless advocacy for the people of Palestine, whom she has consistently supported in their fight against Israeli oppression. Her humility, wisdom, and strength moved all who were present that evening.
As a leading anti-genocide organization with over 30 years of global advocacy and a United Nations-accredited voice for oppressed communities, Justice For All is proud to have recognized Dr. Pandor for her unwavering courage. Her new role at the Nelson Mandela Foundation is a testament to her lifelong service to justice, equality, and human dignity.
We are confident that under Dr. Pandor’s leadership, the Nelson Mandela Foundation will continue to be a beacon of hope for all those fighting for freedom and human rights around the world. Congratulations, Dr. Pandor, on this well-deserved appointment. We look forward to witnessing the profound impact you will continue to make in this new chapter of your extraordinary journey.
